CLIMATE
The climate of this country varies from one region to another. Since Argentina nestles in the Southern Hemisphere, from September to November the country will experience spring, summer falls in December to February, winter is from June to August and autumn will be in March to May. Between January and March, temperature is very hot it will rise to 110°F.
WHAT TO WEAR
On hot days, wear lightweight clothing whilst heavyweight clothing on cold days.
BUSINESS HOURS
Office hours begin from Monday to Friday 9:00 am-12:00 pm and 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
TIPS
It is not necessary to give a tip however to show good practice and appreciation for someone’s service, a tip is greatly appreciated and welcomed. Most major restaurants and hotels charge an additional 10% to your bills.
ELECTRICITY
Argentine electricity is officially 220 volts, 60 Hz. Travelers should bring adaptors or transformers to use your gadgets and other equipments.
LANGUAGE
The official language of the country is Spanish although English and some French and German are widely spoken.
RELIGION
Roman Catholic is the major religion commonly practiced by Argentineans with a percentage of 90% and some are Protestants (2%), Muslim and Jewish communities.
DO’S and DON’TS
- Argentines are very serious soccer fanatics so do avoid wearing soccer jerseys especially of rivals if you do not want trouble.
- Do send a thank-you-note card with flowers or candy to the host on the following day if you are invited for a dinner.
- Do not make an “OK” sign and “thumbs up as both are considered vulgar.
